what have i been up to these few days?
1. Trekking
It was my first time trekking from macritchie reservoir all the way to bukit timah nature reserve. It was fun, albeit the mosquitoes and the rough and sometimes muddy terrain that we had undergone. but it was definitely good exercise, good company and good fun :D
pictures paint a thousand words so here they are:
i love the pretty foilage, i love the smell of nature. oh thank God for mother nature :)
oooh, got bitten by mosquitoes though. so itchy! >.< *resists urge to scratch*
2. Dining Out at Timbre
finally satisfied my craving for duck pizza! timbre's pizzas are really yummylicious. the service @substation is actually not bad. (had a bad experience with the service at the one at artshouse previously) yup, so thumbs up for timbre@substation.
holidays are my favourite days of the year. its when i can let loose my hair, do anything and everything i want and truly enjoy my life. its the time of the year when i can bask in the sun, dine out with friends and live our lives to the fullest!
now i cant wait to go cycling with my besties soon and there are still lots of ppl tt i need to meeet up and catch up with! <3 summer vacation.
oh. btw, go to hell university of illinois, university housing whatever. u r one big disappointment. heck >:(
and yet i always believe in miracles and problems will be resolved naturally on its own. *crosses fingers*

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot! The world forgetting, by the world forgot. Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind! Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned.
I already forget how I used to feel about you
You can erase someone from your mind. Getting them out of your heart is another story.
Replace my memory
Yet another movie that made me sob like nobody's business

my recent obsessions.
a person who obsesses about stuff easily, the following are my recent ones:
1. Photography
Having learnt the basics of photography such as the trinity (aperture, iso and shutter speed), i can't wait to visit the different places in singapore to capture photos. today, mieo and i went to the changi airport, aviation gallery. and i tried out my photographical skills using my new cam. the photos are not very good though as i am still a beginner haha.
this was shot using the colour swapping mode. i swap the colour of the sky from grey to blue : )
Also in colour swapping mode, i sway one of the colours of the carpet to reddish pink !
tried to capture the motion of the waterfall by using a slow shutter speed. my first shot was a disaster because the shutter speed was too slow which resulted in an overexposure and the image to be too bright. this is my 2nd shot. however, i feel that it can be further improved.
my photography skills are still very bad though. i take very long to determine the correct exposure (trinity), and by the time i get the correct modes, the subject will be long gone. thats the problem that i am facing now. practice makes perfect so i am going to keep on practising.
2. Weight loss/ Diet/ Calories burning / Whatever, it all means the same
Yes, i am currently very obsessed about my weight now after finding out that i had gained a few kg during the examination period. Holidays is the best time to start the workouts and healthy diets and thus there is no excuse for me to skip these altogether when i am so 'free' now. Take a look at my inbox, you can see lots of emails about healthy diets, workouts, recipes for healthy cooking so on and so forth. Nope, they are not spam. Rather, they are what i had signed up for (mailing list).
Ask my friends and yea, its true i am so obsessed with this i am counting the calories i ingested and burnt daily. Actually, many might find this a lil bit too crazy. However, i feel that calorie counting actually helps me to be more aware of my food intake and what to watch out for. The results have been obvious and positive too. As of now, i lost 1 kg :D
3. Jobs hunting
Today, i went job hunting with mieo. Just hours ago i was surfing the web for part time positions. I am quite inclined towards being a coffeebean/starbucks barista. Firstly, through this job, i will be undergoing barista training which is really quite cool and a skill that i want to learn. Plus the benefits are reasonable i suppose and helps me in my funds saving for usa. :)
Oh, the airport one fell through because they require a minimum commitment of 3 months and mandatory 2.5 weeks of training. Oh well, im not fated to work in the airport...
These 3 current obsessions of mine have replaced my old ones such as shopping. Which is good i think since it means i will spend less and earn more. It also means that i am spending my time more fruitfully and yes, living my life to the fullest. :)
And oh no, its time to go to school again tomorrow. I pray that i do not require any jabs tomorrow. Firstly, i have phobia and plus i m broke and cant afford any, sadly. So if the nurse shall insist that i have one, i might probably tell her to jab herself. (lol, kidding.) most likely, if this happens i will say orh and panic all over again.
On a sidenote, mieo told me she doesnt believe in true love. Hmm, i still do. Do you? :)
what we could have been, 10:38 PM.
wow blogging is now a daily affair.. hmm
so i overslept today and stayed at home cos of painful muscle aches from all the running for the past few days! : (
and its pasta making day today!
seriously pasta is the simplest dish ever.. all you need are some simple ingredients, the pasta and the pasta sauce! and voila!
carbonara pasta with oven toasted cheese sausage and grilled fish, topped with parsley. sauce contains garlic, onions and mushrooms and minced pork. yumyum healthy and delicious because i used very little carbonara sauce :D ok this will last me for the whole day :D
another photo using a different camera mode! still experimenting with all the functional buttons on my camera! but its the same pasta without the sausage and fish
i cant wait for this photography workshop that i am attending tomorrow.. ok tts all for this post! byes!

what we could have been, 10:45 AM.
obsession with calories
ok using the online calorie calculator, with all the activities i did today, i have actually burnt:
Resting (basal) metabolic rate: 1080 calories per day
Typical daily activities: 506 calories per day
Calories burned from Running: 216 per day
Calories burned from Other: 112 per day
Total calories burned: 1914 per day
and using the labels found on the boxes of the cereal and other food i have taken today:
There are 180 calories in 1 serving of YogActive Probiotic Cereal - Fibre Flakes, Real Strawberries & Real Raspberries.
Calorie breakdown: 18% fat, 71% carbs, 11% protein.
from the small bowl of porridge and a few spoons of rice i had injested during the days, calories from the rice, white, cooked, medium grain is actually 242.
160 calories from one serving of dou miao, steamed that i ate
half a serving of fish 60 calories
a fried egg with some salted vegetables about 99 calories
half a serving of orange juice about 20 calories
so in total i burnt 1914 calories and gained about 761 calories. which means i lost 1153 calories today.since one kg equals to 7700 calories, i have lost 150g today. ok tts really pathetic. im shall cut back on rice tomorrow and get half a serving of cereal instead of one. hmm
erm lol do ignore this blogpost, i know it sounds pretty lame haha.
what we could have been, 10:29 PM.
regarding the previous post, its nothing much actually... thanks friends for being concerned and always there for me :) but ya its kinda a long story so i won't want to recount it. but its really nothing much :)
voila! i finally got my new cam yesterday haha. yes, so now for outings, it shall be my turn to be the photographer! :) really really hearts my purple cam :) ok i know guys will def hate my cam cos its purple but i dont care heh.
hmm... the excitement about this exchange prog seems to have been dying down a bit. i guess maybe its due to some problems that ensued during the prep. oh wells. there are always risks that we need to take in everything that we do. maybe its just nervousness acting up again, like travelling with a group of people i dont really know beforehand to an unfamiliar city, an unfamiliar country. oh wells im not sure too.. i just hope everything will go well. guess i need to be slightly more optimistic :D
ok, gotta prep to teach tuition once again! tatas! :)
what we could have been, 4:55 PM.
i just hope things will get better from now on. sigh. nv felt so screwed before. :( feel so lost and confused and abandoned. :/

digicam virtual shopping!~
samsung dual view TL225': hmm.. i like it that its dual view and the camera is really chic and cool!

how about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H20? more like a semi pro digicam which im actually looking for to bring to usa to take piccies! but well i will have to learn how to use all the functional buttons. a noob with a pro cam : piccies will turn out to be noob. oops

hmm okies dokies, shall continue with this post later when im back from signing the employment contract : )
(edit)
are these awesome or what? :) i think i am going to get this one!

I always thought the first cam i will own will be pink, but hey this purple is simply awesome and chic!
however the problem is that this cam is not retailed yet in the major stores like courts, best denki and audio house. hmmm.. am considering whether i should get it from cannon singapore straight or wait till it is retailed. the prices should be cheaper yea? hmm..
(edit)
wow. canon singapore sells it at $649. so i went to hardwarezone to check out the places to get cheaper cams. and found out that cathay photo sells it at $605 and alan photo @sim lim sells it at $540. lol. price diff is quitee great. so moral of the story: do homework before you make any purchase thats 100 and above. haha shall continue making cold calls to the shops and hunt for even lower prices. (yea, tts right, im too free during the hols to do such stuff eh)
anyhows. im employed already! cannot wait to start work :D this job is going to be fun i think! and very rewarding too if i work hard enough!
wessa's bday party is tmr! cant wait haha its been a long time since i ve been to stnicks tt area haha. shall upload the photos tt we will take on this blog :)
